I haven’t had time to knit much on the sweater the last few days so I’m just casting on for the right front now. I can’t get a good picture of it at this time but hopefully I’ll be able to get a nice picture for next post!

Finished back!

Day 4

  • Finished armhole but had to rip out, I was following the wrong decreases while watching tv. It’s fun to knit while watching tv or going to the movies… but you gotta watch out for the mistakes!

 Day 5

  • Finished knitting the back. My friend Michelle and I were having coffee at our favorite coffee shop. She did some quick measurements to make sure that it would fit and we came to the conclusion that it looked like it would fit just fine.

Next up, fronts!

Armholes…

Day 3

  • Found 1 mistake from knitting at the movies, so I had to rip back a bit to fix my mistake. Now I’ve knit to the armhole.
  • Knitalong Sweater 020

  • It’s a fun sweater to knit, also, it’s light and easy to transport with me so I can work on it during my spare time.

Here we go!

I’ve started working on my sweater! I’ll be keeping you updated on my progress with these short posts and some pictures. I can’t wait to see your own!

Day 1 and 2

  • Cast-on 3 times to get gauge and fabric I wanted on size 5 needles.
  • Cast on for bottom ribbing on size 5 needle so ribbing would have a loose look, almost loopy.
  • Knit 8” of stockinette after bottom ribbing, and now almost done with the waist ribbing. I brought my knitting to the movies with me, I’ve always enjoyed knitting in the dark!

This is Donna, I’m the one that is going to be participating with you in knitting a sweater in 30 days.

Here you can see all my gear ready for cast-on… Only 3 days left until we can start!

Getting ready for the Sweater KAL

I chose to knit my sweater in Sublime Soya Cotton dk in flax. The pattern is the Cabled Cardigan with Flowers from Vogue Knitting by Plymouth Yarns (Ravelry link).

I’m looking forward to seeing what you all are knitting!

The first person to have finished a pair of socks in the Socks-O-Wool KAL is Suzie from The Purly Gates. She will soon receive a fun package of yarn4socks goodies! You can go congratulate her on her blog for her beautiful socks!

Here is our interview with Suzie:

Your socks are really beautiful. Can you tell me a bit more about the sock pattern you used?
Thanks so much! The pattern I used was “Eleanor” by Gigi Silva (also known as Monkey Momma). In searching for a pattern, I read that she had passed away earlier this year, so I wanted to knit one of her
patterns in her memory. She designed many beautiful sock patterns that she offered freely on her website.

Can you tell us when you started knitting them and how long it took you to finish them?
I started them at midnight on April 15. I’ve been having trouble sleeping, so I decided to cast on and knit ’til I was tired enough to go back to bed. I finished them in a week, thanks to an easy to remember pattern and some chunks of uninterrupted knitting time…at the airport, on the planes to and from my in-laws, at the doctor’s office and pretty much anytime I could get a few rows in!!

What needles and technique did you use? Did you knit them toe-up or top-down?
I used 2 2.25mm circs, knitting from the top-down.

What is your favorite sock knitting technique and why?
I really like both top down and toe up. Right now I’m more interested in toe-up patterns because I recently took a class from Cat Bordhi and she taught me how to do Judy’s Magic Cast-On!

How did you like knitting with the O-Wool Classic 2-ply?
I liked it quite a bit. I got my needles snagged a few times, but overall, I found the yarn easy to work with and the results are so comfy. I’ve been meaning to try this yarn for awhile and I’m glad I did!

Do you have a special pair of shoes that will go well with your new pair of socks?
I hate to say it, but I don’t often wear my hand knitted socks with shoes. I have hardwood floors, so I usually put them when I get home from work. I think the pic I posted on the blog shows them in their natural environment!

Can you tell us something fun about you related to knitting in general?
I love making things of all kinds, but I think knitting is my true love craft because it finds itself in everything else I do.  When I first learned letterpress printing, the first thing I wanted to make
was knitting themed notecards!

Thank you Suzie!

Just about an hour ago, I finished my second sock!

I wasn’t planning on it, but it was nice to finish this pair of organic wool socks on Earth Day!

I love ‘em. I’m going to use what’s left for some baby booties!

I’m definitely nowhere near as fast as Purlygates but I’ve got one whole foot done!

Rococo sock - heel is next

Next up is the heel and then on to the leg. Hopefully I’ll be able to knit the heel tomorrow and get started on the leg the next day. Maybe even get most of the leg done by the weekend!

One down!!

I really did not think I would be that far along with this pair, but I’m one sock down! These socks are really knitting up quick. It’s a really easy pattern to remember, so it’s been a great portable project. I’ve been working on them every chance I get, especially since I just got a sock club shipment in the mail that I pledged not to cast on until I am done with this pair!

Have a great weekend!

I decided to knit the Rococo socks pattern by Knitspot. It’s a lace pattern I’ve been wanting to try for a bit and I thought that this would be a nice yarn to knit it with.

Here’s a photo after I was done with the toe

and a photo as of this morning. I’ve got 4 repeats on the foot done

Rococo Socks - 4 repeats done

I think that I’ll need about 4 repeats more before the heel.

The lace pattern is pretty easy, you just have to remember your yarn overs and decreases! I love the little eyelets in the middle, very pretty.
