We’ve been wanting to do a KAL again for a while now, but hadn’t found the perfect pattern until now. This perfect pattern is the Bethuen Shawl by Oceanwind Knits [Ravelry details].
This shawl is worked entirely in knit (garter stitch with eyelets). It’s designed to stay on the shoulders easily. Because colours can be changed at your whim, arbitrarily, it’s a great way to use up leftover sock yarn. The colour and style possibilities are endless. The shawl is worked from the top centre point outwards. The skill level required for this shawl is Easy to intermediate.
To participate in this KAL you’ll have to purchase the pattern from us (the pattern will be available at yarn4socks at the July 26th update). You can use your own sock yarn or purchase special sock yarn just for that! You’ll need about about 600 yds of fingering weight yarn to complete the shawl. Of course, it will be even more fun if you can post your progress here, so please contact us at yarn4socks at yahoo dot com so that we can invite you to this blog. Please make sure to have a WordPress account (no need to create a blog) and let us know what your login name is.
The KAL will run from August 1st to September 1st. If you finish your shawl by September 1st your name will be put in a drawing for a great yarny prize. Donna will be knitting along with you all. I can’t wait to see the yarn she’ll use!
